CHARCOAL DRAWINGS
My journey into charcoal artistry was marked by a deep admiration for the unconventional styles of pioneering artists such as Alexander Rodchenko and El Lissitzky. Drawn to the boldness and architectural precision of their work, I found inspiration in the way they defied traditional artistic norms and embraced a revolutionary approach to visual expression.
Russian Constructivism offered me a sense of liberation and fluidity in my creative process. The stark contrast of black charcoal against white paper allowed me to explore bold forms and dynamic compositions with a sense of spontaneity and freedom.
In my charcoal drawings, I sought to capture the essence of Constructivist aesthetics while infusing them with my own unique perspective. Drawing upon the principles of geometric abstraction and dynamic asymmetry, I experimented with unconventional shapes and perspectives, pushing the boundaries of traditional charcoal drawings.
While paying homage to the iconic styles of Rodchenko and Lissitzky, I aimed to imbue my work with a personal flair, incorporating elements of my own artistic identity into each piece. From exploring new color palettes to infusing my compositions with subtle nods to contemporary themes, I strived to create charcoal drawings that resonate with both the spirit of Russian Constructivism and the sensibilities of a modern audience.
There was no particular theme associated to the creation of these charcoal drawings. These pieces were a way for me to explore and study the depths of Russian Constructivism while freeing myself from the norm.
